Weekly Update

Last Week at Wargaming Tradecraft

Happy New Year!

Not much goes on during holiday weeks, but I still read articles and have gathered some links (and some amusement) for all. Click on through.

The Food Machine project has begun promoting their charity drive though, so take a look at my post on it, and see the model I painted up.

I was interviewed recently by Loquacious for a really interesting series on art within the hobby.. take a look over at House of Paincakes.

Also, this Thursday is a doozie of a beginners guide, so hang in there.

and it's become a meme
Incase you want some amusing non-hobby related, somewhat gamer related material to read, and to make more awareness of this debacle, this is how NOT to do Marketing:

Here's where it all started, from the category of "Never talk to your customers like this"
http://penny-arcade.com/resources/just-wow1.html

Follow that up with IGN, Engadget, Kotaku, MLG all disavowing his name dropping on Twitter, he called IGN's executive editor names, changed his twitter to @OceanStratagy (yes, spelled wrong), @OceanDeepSea, @OceanMarketingg (spelled wrong again), it turns out his tips blog is basically just plagiarized material without credits, people on twitter are talking up a STORM on the whole thing, tons of sites have picked it up. The Examiner has what's probably the best wrap up with updates of all the goings on, (story at the bottom of the page, updates at the top) but the story reached Gamer Front, GamerLive, Kotaku, etc... Then, he started imitating other media people to try and lessen the damage. Follow up with PA, and he threatened legal action, then grovelled, then tried a lame apology. (Because nothing says "I'm sorry" like "I just wanted to apologize for the way our emails progressed I didn’t know how big your site was") PA even whipped up a special comic just for it. There's actually a bunch more.. interviews, criminal records, minors given power within the company and incorrectly advertising themselves as marketing managers, as well as a press release from the company that this guy was communicating on behalf of... click the above Examiner link for all the details.

For the digital gamers in our midst, here's a nice little wrap up to the last year:
