Postapocalyptibuggy [Part 13]

The ongoing chronicle and my first attempt at posting Work In Progress shots, this is my entry for the Massive Voodoo Mad Max Car Competition. I'll list them all on my Step by Step page, or you can view the current WIP series.

I added a brighter layer of red tonight. It ended up a little bright, so I dulled it some in a following step with some khaki. (tan)
Also started the inner parts of the car. Started with a "elf" flesh colour for the floors/ceiling, then khaki (tan) for the consoles.

I'll probably shift the consoles towards grey, and the floor/ceiling toward a lighter tan.
I'm undecided still on how washing and airbrushing go together. In some areas I love how it brings out the detail, in others... not so much. But, it's a learning experience, so we'll see where things take us. The following is a black wash thinned with water, about 1:1. You can REALLY see how the console's details pop.

I'll still be highlighting of course, this is just where I left off.

Also, cleaning the airbrush between colours is a bit of a pain, but it beats paint drying out and clogging things up - requiring a deeper clean.

  1. Excellent. I really like how the red turned out.

So the deadline's 2 weeks off. Can you make it? Or are these posts lagging behind the real progress? :)

  2. Had _a lot_ of delays with my new job, moving, etc... so I'm hoping I will. These posts are up to date, but I think it's doable without sacrificing quality.
