Postapocalyptibuggy [part 9]

The ongoing chronicle and my first attempt at posting Work In Progress shots, this is my entry for the Massive Voodoo Mad Max Car Competition. I'll list them all on my Step by Step page, or you can view the current WIP series.

To strengthen the canopy, I've glued a piece of a brass strip inside some wire mesh. On the right side is a wire that I've twisted together to hold the mess closed while the glue dries.
Using the scraping method, I smooth out the putty on the front wheel covers. The cracks and lowered rough areas are fine, and can be painted rusty or chipped.

Now I'm going to place chains on the wheels.

The inner wheels have 5 holes through to the other side. Through these, I "thread" some small chain that you can get from a hobby shop's necklace section. One end is tied in a knot to stay in place, the other ends up glued to the inner well after the threading.

Next, I thread some burnt pipe cleaner to add an extra "rough chain" to it.

Like when making barbed wire, here's an easy to make method for created some chain or other traction creating item.

Just run a pipe cleaner through some fire until it melts down. Be careful not to melt it down all the way, you don't want it mostly gone and smooth -  you're after at least a little texture.
