Weekly Update

Last Week at Wargaming Tradecraft

To start things off last week was a guest post on colour-blind modelers - a big thanks to my good buddy Jim for that. (To delve deeper in to his mind, visit Concept Crucible) You can also read a lengthy post on Facebook, advertising and some thoughts on social media.

Blog-fu aside, some first shots of Madrak Ironhide WIP, while the second also included using nail salon jewels.

Vacation! (awesome photos below...)

Double rainbow in Ottawa - can you think of a better way
to start your vacation?
Well, no updates from the community, because I've been on a well needed vacation this week and haven't had time to keep up with things. TheWife was part of a dance group that won first place for Otakuthon's dance contest and got to perform for the opening ceremonies. So, we swung up through Ottawa, then spent the weekend in Montreal.

Otakuthon's been a blast, with such a high number of people in costume, there's been so much to see, do, eat and of course, buy.

Lesson learned though - avoid Travellodge. (Between unadvertised tetris valet parking who say they're not responsible for damage, BO smelling halls, old person smelling rooms, black mold in the shower, tiny rooms, broken remotes, splayed electrical wiring and creepy bunkish beds bolted to walls...)

TheWife and YoursTruly, thoroughly enjoying the beginning of our vacation.

Historical light show on the parliament building.

Yeah, we were just as blown away when we discovered it.

The group posing after their performance!

Yup, there was a little 40k representing, though the game halls had everything but GW... a-burn.

So win - but I bet a bunch of you have no idea who they are, and that makes me feel old. Stay frosty.

The gamer in me had to snap this one, though apparently I missed Sylvanis.

And this is for the kids.

Her costume was fantastic! (and she was totally in to it)

Couldn't miss getting this shot for our favorite pink community member.

Smoked Meat Poutine. Mmmmm....

Can you think of a better way to end your vacation than this? Cause I can't. Found out Red State was playing it's first Canadian stop in Montreal and scored some last minute tickets! Headed to the bathroom while waiting for it to start and ran into this guy, who was kind enough to pose before introducing the movie.
I -HIGHLY- recommend seeing this movie if you can. It's not Kevin Smith's usual style and it constantly keeps you guessing. It's really a shame he's getting out of the game.

Costumes were (probably) made by the people the pics are of. Actual creator names are unknown, but might be visible on the name tags worn by a couple of them.

  1. Glad to hear you had a good vacation. I didn't recognize the reboot costumes at first but as soon as I moused over the link It all came back to me. I loved that show when I was a kid. Saw some of the newer episodes a couple years back and it just wasn't the same as the old ones.

I'm also super jealous that you got to meet Kevin Smith. I will definitely have to check out Red Dawn. I saw Cop Out a month or two ago and was laughing my butt off the whole time. When the credits started rolling I saw that Kevin Smith was the director it just blew my mind.

    Awesome update this week.

  2. He's only getting out so he can 'go-studio' and get other great up and coming film-makers into the spotlight, which can only be a good thing.
