Postapocalyptibuggy [Part 15]

The ongoing chronicle and my first attempt at posting Work In Progress shots, this is my entry for the Massive Voodoo Mad Max Car Competition. I'll list them all on my Step by Step page, or you can view the current WIP series.

Revealed, is the colour for the body of the vehicle. It's a pearlized blue airbrush paint. It was really nice working with a paint already the consistency for airbrushes. It worked well and I liked not having to thin it down. Too bad airbrush paint is so much more expensive. I'm still going to experiment with thinning down my normal paints.

So, there's a bunch of the progression. I'm not entirely sure what I think of the orange yet.. the theory was the added wheel wells would have been from a different vehicle. Seeing them on, I'm not entirely sure what I think yet. There will be a touchup stage, and once I see it all together, I'll either leave it, dull it or change it.

Also, as TheWife pointed out to me, I should be masking... apparently so.

  1. You surprised me with the color. In my mind all post apocalyptic vehicles are matt black (mad max style). You will probably pull it off and have a fantastic end result. personally im not a fan of a shiny car when strugling for survival. you made it look used and banged up with the modelling and conversions but the paintjob kinda takes that away for me now. Of course you will probably weather that car to death so I'm going to let you surprise me again.

I thought it would be a nice touch to give the hood and a door a different color to show that they have been looted from other cars.

Will the front weels be able to turn with that plate welded over it to protect it? to me it seems the back wheels have a lot of space and the front wheels don't have enough. need more pics though.

keep it up, I want to see what you make of this.

    Cheers,
    Seb

  2. I'm thinking I want to see it together, then give it a good overall and even weathering.

Funny you mention the wheels. The front ones have plenty of room and are already turned. The back ones were a bit of a pain as I had to modify them a few times so the wheels would fit.
